==================================================================

G'day Shredders,

Yesterday I asked the Shredder Council to reflect on their experiences in the last 7 days since we kicked of the Group Shred.

After visiting the VIP Blogs I was so blown away by the heartfelt responses and outpouring of positivity and optimism I thought I'd let my fellow Shredders do the talking!

Below are just a couple of excerpts from a couple of the Shredder Council blogs:

From Christy:
Adam asked us to blog about what has surprised us so far on this mission, personal victories, challenges we've overcome on this group shred. That is a tremendous undertaking.

I'll go with the obvious and say I am completely surprised at the level of community feeling of our Shredder Counsel.

I am even more surprised to discover the depth of love and affection I have in my heart for my fellow shredders and Adam. I could never have imagined just how much you all could mean to me in such a short period of time.

Go to Christy's You Are Enough Blog to read more...

From Michael:

What has surprised you the most so far?
As many people have said, the most surprising thing for me is the amazing support that has come from the Shredder Council. People who didn't know each other have come together via the internet and given each other much needed support.

However, equally as surprising to me is how focused effort can bring noticeable results in just one week. Through the use of daily accountability photos, I see differences in every single person on the Shredder Council and it has only been seven days.

Go to Michael's Fat Burning Machine Blog to read more...

From Dougal:
What has surprised me.

At the start of this shred I knew, because of the overwhelming popularity of Adam Waters' blog that there would be a number of people wanting to participate in the shred. What has surprised me is, that given the number of people viewing Adam's blog on a regular basis, there were so few people willing to take on a challenge.

I have also been surprised at the stickability of the "Faithful Shred Council". The people involved in this shred are people living in the "real world" and are "real people". People with integrity, values and principles. People that I'm certainly very proud to be associated with. Making a commitment means something to all of us, and once started will definitely be successfully completed.

Go to Dougal's Mind Body Superfit Blog to read more...

How awesome are these guys! Like I said I'm blown away daily by raw passion and enthusiasm in the Shredder Council, and to quote Michael, "Something tells me that we are blazing a trail here that others will follow."

P.S. My hat goes off to all Shredders, you guys are doing something that is very rare in this world. You are taking massive action on your goals and dreams AND holding yourself accountable daily to manifest your new reality...in real-time!

Hey Adam,

I have not had a chance to watch the vid yet so I will post comments on that later.

Just got back from the gym though and I bit the bullet and went with your mini challenge even though my legs were still sore. Boy it is a tough one!!

I am not sure if I did it correctly but I did, 30 mins alternating between 6kph @ 1min and 16kph @ 2 min and then a 31st min @ 16kph so that is the final 3 minutes at 16kph, is that what you meant?

I was going to crank up the final minute but I was too busy concentrating on not throwing up!!

I got there though, nice workout man.

Have a great weekend.

Take care,

Andrew

Adam, I want to comment in regards to the accountability factor. I think this has been stepped up a knotch by the personal touch of other people. posting a photo is one part, but knowing someone who genuinely cares that you succeed is "watching" you to check up on you is powerful. One doesn't want to let those people down. Having a tight knit group just adds to that! this is what makes this group shred with this group of people so awesome!

Man, andrew you are... I don't know what you are I do HIIT for 20 minutes I'm at my maximum already man I'm telling ya.

Hey suzette, I know what you mean! I mean, who cares if your photos look the same after 14 days right. But with you checking in, andrew, joni, deb, mike, adam, doug and everyone else I know I can't let you guys down.

Anyways, about the vid, my way of progressive discipline is cutting back on my binges. I know that every week I will have a huge binge so what I do I cut down this binge to a cheat meal and then stop so even even if I have a cheat meal I go two steps forward one step back rather than two steps forward and two or even three steps back

Oh btw Adam, I'm contemplating whether to purchase metabolic surge or not. If you've read my latest blog post, you know that I'm kinda at a cross road right now and I really feel like I need to build mass.. (but still get a six pack)

Do you mind if I email you some questions re the surge program?

thanks.

Adam,

I knew you had something up your sleeve for when this group shred ends. I can't wait to hear what it is! I agree with everyone else that the accountability factor is what is propelling us all towards success.

You're not only investing in your own health, but doing it for others. Thank you so very much for caring enough to invest into to helping and challenging others to take charge of their health - improvement beyond fat loss!

Hey Adam,
Long time listener, first time caller. You can add me to the list of those that have been inspired by you. I almost bit on the Group Shred, but I think I'll be ready to join in on the next one if the Shredder Council will continue. I'll be setting up my blog over the weekend and streamlining my progress photo cropping. I'm actually on Day 52, so I have a backlog of photos to go through!

Keep up the good work and shred hard as you reach the big 1 year date!

I'm with Suzette (again). The support is so fantastic. Every single person is unique and special and brings that to the whole group. I find it no strange coincidence that we were all brought together by someone so unique and special himself. Thanks Adam.

As for progressive discipline. I love that phrase and concept. It manifests itself very differently in my life than in yours, but if you take what you do, divide it by 1,000 and measure then chart the progress, the graphs may look kinda similar. But the important part is that the discipline progresses the further I am on a "mission." I have found it to be very true even though I did not really have that concept in mind when I started.

Debbie said...

Adam, first, thanks for the new video.

You asked about progessive discipline. I believe that deadlines fuel progressive discipline. I know that now there are only 6 number of days left and I need to do whatever I can to have the best possible results. It's exciting because we didn't set specific goals but I think you asked us to "see what we can do in 14 days".

I also wanted to say that I am very impressed with what you have accomplished in a year (well, almost a year). When I see your before picture, I am in awe of what you have done with your physique. Amazing and inspiring.

Hi Everyone!

I'm one of those people that have been watching you guys from the sidelines. Unfortunately, I miscalculated the entry deadline time and didn't get into Mission 1, but I'm shredding alongside the group. You guys are so inspirational, I love reading all your blogs. And Adam you are awesome! Your daily video is the first thing I look forward to when I log on in the morning. Thanks so much for the great advice and content. Here is my blog: http://www.shekhinahdivine.blogspot.com/

Love, Lilla

To all the people who are not watching and not taking part and who wish they were start your own now. Its been so great to be part of this. We are all keeping an eye on each other. But just knowing that there are others who are going through this daily struggle to better them selves helps to make the experience so much easier.
So I'll say it again its been GREAT
So get to it and start your own transformation.

i wanted to comment on the "progressive discipline" topic. In my blog I shared that I haven't really thought about the discipline...i just knew what I wanted to do and knew it had to be done and was going to do whatever it takes to get the job done. It's a total mindset...something just clicked and said you have to do this. the discipline just followed where my heart was taking me in this mission. To be able to share this with other like-minded people is just awesome!

Hi Andrew, awesome work mate, that is a shred of the highest order!

Adam Waters said...

Hi Suzette,

You summed it up perfectly. There really is a "dual accountability" factor here, internal (daily pics/blogs)and external accountability (shredder council).

We are going to see a lot of transformations of mind, body and life I believe from our original Shredder Council.

Cheers,
Adam Waters

Thank you Debbie, yes a deadline to produce results and make them public is a huge factor.

Surge really is great. It's worth it just for some of the unique exercise techniques that are presented!

Andrew said...

Hey Adam,

I have some thoughts on progressive discipline. From my point of view I think it is a mix of discipline and risk taking. For example, if you had eaten the chocolate cake prior to M1 there was no risk in that for you. However, as you start to progress towards your goal the risk you run in jeopordising your success increases. So as your results grow you want to reduce the risks to try to ensure success. So over the first few weeks a couple of cheat meals are fine as you have seen only a few results but then around week 4 - 5 the results are much stronger and you want to make sure they remain so you cut a cheat meal to reduce the risk of failure and then again 2 or 3 weeks from the end the results are looking great and you either want even better ones or certainly not to lose these so you bite the bullet and for 3 weeks have no cheat meal thus eliminating the nutritional risk of failure completely!!

Whichever view you have on this subject though the results are the same, you are still a winner.

That just my 2 pence worth!!

Take care,

Andrew

Josh! You are looking great. You have made such a noticeable change in eight days it's really cool.

Josh said...

Thank you Christy, that means a lot! You are also doing exceptional! :)

Joni said...

Hey!
I know I'm late weighing in on this topic but I can totally see progressive discipline at work for me in this mission especially with Surge because, like you said, if you are not in total compliance the first round, you've got another one in 12 days that you can just work harder on. It is really like my earlier attempts at weight loss turned upside down becuase before I would be super strict at the beginning and then as soon as I would see results I would start to give myself license to cheat more and more and then one day almost without noticing I would be totally off track. So far this whole experience has been so different and such a better way of doing it! As always, thanks for the challenge!
