Day 512: Last Day In NYC - REM Live At The Colbert Report!

G'day Shredders,

My final night in New York City was officially "off the Richter Scale"!

My Fellow Shredder (Codename L) and I caught a live taping of the Colbert Report last night.

Colbert Live!

Stephen Colbert was at his brilliant best tonight as he went through three whole segments without missing a beat. He is definitely one of the most quick-witted comedians you'll ever see!

Below is a clip from tonight's show where Stephen humbly accepts a Peabody Award and exclusively covers the Annual Australian Duck Fashion Show!

REM Live!

As we were lining up for the live taping we got some really cool news about who tonight's guest would be...REM! In over 500 episodes of the Colbert Report this was the first time they ever had a "bone fide" rock band on!

I have also been a massive fan of REM since my late teens (Automatic For The People is a fave!) so it was amazing to see REM play live in such an intimate setting. Believe it or not they actually played three songs for the audience!

In the clip below you'll see the live performance of REM's latest single, Supernatural Superserious as it appeared on the show.

We were only about 10 feet away from Michael Stipe as he performed this song, and yes Michael was in fine form too!

Thank You Tom And Lilla!

Before I sign off I'd like to thank Tom Venuto and Lilla for chauffeuring me all around New York City and New Jersey during my 2-week stay.

Tom and Lilla both took time out of their busy schedules and made my trip to NYC an incredible experience! Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!

Below you can see a couple of pics from the night's events.

The pic is pre-show standing out the
front of
Colbert HQ on 54th Street.

This pic was taken in front of REM's
sound gear loaded up on the footpath!

Shredder Pact:

We will focus on the single daily actions that produce results.

We will "burn our bridges" and not look back.

We will never surrender.

Eat Clean,
Shred Hard,
Think BIG!

Cheers,
Adam Waters, NESTA-CPT

P.S. The "warm-up" comedian drilled me on my Aussie-ness in the pre-show ! You can get a blow-by-blow account at Lilla's Blog!

P.S.S.
I apologize for my lack of posts recently. I am currently a quarter way through a brutal 2-week work schedule at the moment so all my available time is quite literally spent working, eating, planning, training and sleeping. I will be back to "real-time" on this blog by the next edition of Shredder Sunday.

On the plus side, this recent downtime has enabled to start planning M5. This will be The Mission To End All Missions and as I have previously mentioned it will involve more than just one person!

Stay tuned to this blog for details on M5:CD, serious Shredders will not want to miss this one!

P.S.S.S. Shredder Council 2.0 Update: Daily picture and blog accountability during Missions will be a requirement to maintain your place in The Council as we must practice what we preach in order to maintain our credibility.

I strongly suggest you get back into the daily accountability habit before SC 2.0 goes live if you'd like to remain a member of The Council. Trust me, once you see what I've got in store for M5:CD it will be worth your while!
