Day 387: These Numbers Are Shocking!

G'day,

Today I completed Day 4 of the Five Day Structural Attack (5DSA) and I have some amazing Burnout Stats to let you in on (Full report coming tomorrow).

Check it out!

Day 1: Five Day Structural Attack

I started Day 1 of 5DSA (Barbell Squats for 20 minutes straight with 3 rep sets at 30 seconds rest) at 100 KG and finishing up with 12 reps at 90KG on my Burnout Set.

Day 4: Five Day Structural Attack

I started today (Day 4) of 5DSA (Barbell Squats for 35 minutes straight with 3 rep sets at 30 seconds rest) at 120KG and finishing up with 16 reps at 80KG on my Burnout Set.

Can You See The Significance Of These Numbers?

Even though the weight increment is 10 KG lower on Day 4 I managed to get out the 16 reps on top of an additional 15 minutes of brutal Barbell Squat work!

From a pure "load" point of view I actually lifted more weight on today's Burnout Set: Day 4 "load" of 1,280 KG's (16 reps at 80KG's) as opposed to Day 1 "load" of 1,080 KG's (12 reps at 90 KG's).

As this is the first time I have ever undergone this type of intense "structural attack" training I am extremely pleased with these results, the best part is that I still have one more day to go. I am really looking forward to seeing what I can achieve tomorrow!

One Important Point:

I strongly believe that my "rest day" yesterday greatly helped with my efforts today. Even though this was a departure from the "official program" of five consecutive days I "listened" to my body yesterday and my body told me it desperately needed rest!

I'll post a comprehensive breakdown of my 5DSA stats tomorrow for the whole five days along with detailed analysis and advice on what to expect if you incorporate this training strategy into your "mass building" routine.

Until tomorrow...

Think BIG!

Cheers,

Day 386: While I Was Sleeping...

G'day,

I lost the auction for my "old camera" on eBay by $2.50!

Seems like a "bid sniper" got me in the last few minutes (while I was asleep) which is quite a common practice on eBay. I am so desperate now to get my "old camera" back I started racking my brain this morning on what other options I have.

I Had A Brainwave!

How's this for a "genius idea"! Take my old camera back to Olympus to get repaired! What an amazing concept, I'd never even considered this back on Day 361 when I "destroyed" my old camera.

So today I did exactly that. I took my camera into the Olympus head office in Osaka and was told it would only cost ¥13,000 to fix! They will even deliver it to my apartment when it's ready, which should be by December 12, 2007.

I am so excited at the prospect of having my old camera back that I am now on a "mini mission" to do it justice by ramping up my training in the next 14 days in anticipation of my new/old camera arriving!

5DSA Update

Today I decided to take the day off from 5DSA Training to give my quads a rest from the destruction I have wreaked on them in the past 3 days. However, I will be back in full force tomorrow and Saturday to finish the Five-Day Structural Attack (5DSA) by doing 35 and 40 minutes straight on Barbell Squats.

Right now my quads are in so much agony its hard to even get off my chair (let alone ride my bike to work!). I have a feeling that the "proof will be in the pudding" come Saturday when I compare my 5DSA Day 1 stats to the Day 5 stats. Judging by my Squat numbers yesterday this is unconventional approach is working.

Until tomorrow...

Eat Clean,
Shred Hard,
Think BIG!

Cheers,
Adam Waters, NESTA-CPT

P.S. Lilla and Suzette, here are my quads! As you can see, still a lot of work to do!

Day 385: My Squat Endurance Is Up!

G'day,

I'm onto Day 3 of the Five-Day Structural Quad Attack and really feeling it. Today I upped my time by another 5 minutes and completed 30 straight minutes of Barbell Squats.

Squat Endurance Is Up!

I started at 120 KG and lasted only 5 minutes at this increment. However, my endurance has increased massively as I still finished on 70 KG (the same as yesterday) and I also managed 15 reps on my Burnout Set which was 3 reps higher than yesterday (on the same increment).

All in all, I feel great about my quad progress over the last 3 days, however there is one area that is now starting to concern me a little. My pecs (and upper body) seem to have lagged a little due to the focus on my quads this week. I'm gonna have to address this big time next week!

My Ongoing Camera "Issues"

I had planned to upload my full Mission 4 Goal & Accountability Structure today but I spent so much time just getting today's pics done. Ever since I inadvertently "destroyed" my old camera on Day 360 I have been having camera issues almost on a daily basis.

Due to inconsistent lighting and focus problems it now takes me about 45 minutes each night just to get a decent picture (it used to take about 5 minutes!). I have actually just put in a bid on eBay for my "old camera" in the hope that this will give me the same consistent pictures as I used to have.

I gotta go to bed now but hopefully my current high bid will see me through the next 4 hours, fingers crossed!

Until tomorrow...

Eat Clean,
Shred Hard,
Think BIG!

Cheers,
Adam Waters, NESTA-CPT

Day 384: In A World Of Hurt!

G'day,

I woke up this morning feeling refreshed after a good night's sleep. As I was riding my bike to work I had a happy realization...my quads were not in pain from yesterday's 20-minute Structural Attack!

A Slow-Moving Tidal Wave...Of Pain!

Then...like a slow moving tidal wave it started to hit me around 1:00PM. I knew what was coming next...quad pain on a level I haven't felt since the early days of Mission 1.

By 6:15 PM I was in world of hurt! But I managed to put the pain aside for 25 minutes as I underwent Day 2 of the Five-Day Structural Attack (5DSA). As my program instructs I increased the starting weight for Barbell Squats to 110KG and went for 25 minutes straight doing nothing but Squats.

Not surprisingly, my weight increments dropped quicker than yesterday (about 5 minutes each) as I finished on 70KG on the 25th minute. To be more specific 5DSA calls for 3 rep mini-sets with 30 seconds rest on a starting weight you can normally get 6 reps with.

One More Thing...

One thing I forgot to mention yesterday was the Burnout Set at the end of the allotted time. This BO set takes place after a 2 minute rest on your finishing weight increment where you pump out as many reps as possible. Today I managed 13 reps (one better than yesterday!) before crashing to the floor.

Tom Venuto & The Shredder Council = Supreme Motivation

As I type these words now it is actually painful just to get up from my chair! But I "know" that this is process is necessary and required if I am to "stack up" in Tom Venuto's gym on his Quad Blaster on Day 500. What more motivation could anyone need?!

I am also motivated by the possibility that I may be able to meet in-person several members of the Shredder Council while I'm in the US. That is real-time accountability of the highest order and I look forward to our possible East Coast Shredder Summit!

Congratulations Dougal

Before I sign off today I would like to give a special mention to our resident Shredder from South Africa, the one and only Dougal! My good buddy has just completed his first 84 days of real-time shredding and blogging. Dougal is an inspiration to many in the Shredder Council and I have a strong feeling that Dougal is about to inspire many more people!

Congratulations Dougal, shred on brother! Check out Dougal's real-time blog at MindBody Superfit to give your support and encouragement for this great achievement.

Until tomorrow...

Day 383: Five-Day Structural Attack Begins

G'day,

I'm completely hammered so I'll be pretty quick today.

The reason I am so "gone" is because today marked Day 1 of the most intense 5 days of weight training I have ever attempted...I'm serious!

Nothing But Squats For One Week!

This training period is called the Five-Day Structural Attack for good reason as I'll be doing nothing but Barbell Squats the whole week. Tonight I lifted 100 KG for 20 minutes straight and tomorrow I'll up it to 110 KG for 25 minutes straight...and so on until Friday when I'll hit 140 KG Squats for 45 minutes straight!

The theory behind this type of training is to get "real good at" one mass-building type of exercise. The goal here is complete muscular and nervous system adaption to one particular exercise.

M4: Mass Building Program Revealed On Day 385

This type of training also goes against just about everything I have ever read before about training for mass. However, the designer of this program has "delivered" before and I trust his judgment (i.e. Mission 1, 2 and 3!). Besides, if you aren't willing to take risks and try something new you'll eventually stagnate anyway.

I'll go into more depth about this Mass Building Training System on Day 385 when I will also reveal the full scope of Mission 4.

I gotta sign off now before I crash into the keyboard!

Until tomorrow...

Eat Clean,
Shred Hard,
Think BIG!

Cheers,
Adam Waters, NESTA-CPT

Happy Thanksgiving! I trust you enjoyed your time with family and friends.

Well Shredders, 31 days down! You have now well and truly ingrained this powerful accountability habit into your routine. You have laid the foundation to make a head-turning physique transformation by January 8, 2008.

The flipside here is that if you don't feel you are making rapid enough progress after 4 weeks it can cause a loss of motivation and discipline. Therefore, in today's video I will "go back in time" and give you advice based on my Mission 1 pre-Christmas Shred last year.

Until next week,

Day 381: Feel The Burn!

G'day,

A super quick update today as I'm still "slaving away" on my exact Mission 4 Goals, Accountability, Stats and Graphics. It's a much bigger job than I envisioned!

High Rep Partial Training

I had a great workout today using a new twist on Lactic Acid training that I used extensively throughout Missions 1, 2 and 3. The new technique calls for "high rep partial" training using two different exercises for the concentric and eccentric phase of the rep motion.

I got a great "burn" which is the objective for this type of training. I felt my muscles almost explode when I got to the final "burnout" sets. I'll go into this technique in much greater detail in the following weeks.

Shredder Council Picture Deadline

Before I sign off today I just want to remind members of The Shredder Council to have your Day 1/31 (Week 2 Phase) pictures to me by 2:00PM "RTP Time" tomorrow (Sunday November 24, 2007).

Until tomorrow...

Day 380: Milestone - 750,000 Video Views!

G'day,

Back on Day 331 I blogged about reaching 500,000 combined views of my accountability videos on YouTube. Well, today I passed 750,000 views! Never in my wildest dreams did I think my videos would be seen by that many people.

Below is a screenshot of my YouTube account that shows 750,168 views as of November 22, 2007.

If you'd like to receive instant alerts when new videos are uploaded (much more to come!) you can subscribe to my RTP VIP Newsletter (with free bonus report) at www.RTP-VIP.com or you can watch these videos on my blog at the RTP Video Archive.

Thank You YouTubers

I would also like to say thank you to everyone that has watched and taken the time comment (over 2000 comments in total) on my videos.

I know from the personal messages I have received from people that these videos have inspired people to start (or complete) their own fat loss journey. Quite honestly, that is the greatest thrill for me, just knowing that I may have inspired other people to take action on their goals.

Before I sign off today I'll leave you with HQ versions of my most popular "time lapse" videos that are not presently available on YouTube (or anywhere else!)

94 Responses from 22 Countries over 12 hours to my public vote on my blog as to whether my midsection qualified as a six-pack. At stake is my $1500 pre-paid "redemption trip" to Phuket. The following takes place on March 24, 2007. Events occur in real-time.

*Warning: This video is very intense!

136 Days In 12 Seconds
- Time Lapse Body Transformation

Exactly as the title says. I took a picture every day for 136 days between Nov 8, 2006 and March 24, 2007 and then put them back to back in a high speed montage. Each 24 hour period is represented by a picture of 0.3 seconds in length.

Buckle your seat belt!

=============================================

84 Days In 48 Seconds
: Time Lapse Body Transformation

A picture a day for 84 days (except for a few rest days). I was inspired by the "guy takes picture of himself every day for 6 years video." I thought...why not apply that concept to my whole body rather than just my face. This video is the result.

The time period is between Nov 8, 2006 and Jan 31, 2007 across 3 countries, Japan, Australia and Hong Kong. My goal for this mission (No.1) was to eat a chocolate birthday cake while holding a six-pack of abs (NOT beer!) for my 33rd birthday on February 1, 2007.

This video is also a tribute to my mentors. Without them I would still be stumbling around like I had for the previous 6 years of failed attempts to get in shape.

Day 379: No Turning Back Now! M4 Revealed By The Shredder Council

G'day Shredders,

What can I say! The Shredder Council does not miss a beat!

Yesterday I "challenged" the Council to guess why I will be in New Jersey on Day 500. I thought this one would be tough to crack (unlike my previous couple of "challenges")

I expected maybe one or two Shredders to nail the correct answer...see Shredder responses below.

First, here is the "official" M4 Goal Graphic!

Shredder Responses:

Adam - a few guesses.

1) you're meeting up with Tom Venuto or Nick Nillson

2) money is burning a hole in your pocket and you're headed to Atlantic city for some gambling

3) you're a big tony soprano fan

btw: did you know the Arnold Classic Bodybuilding Expo is Feb 29-Mar 2 in Columbus, Ohio?

Joni said...

Yeah, I think this has something to do with Tom Venuto as well. And then, of course, coming to visit me because I live 45 min from NJ :)

Oh Snap! Joni you I feel like you just won the Price is Right. You are the closest to Adam's vacation (without going over.) You guys should totally meet AND post a video on the blog.

My guess: Adam's competing in either a Body Building Competition or an Iron Man.

BTW, I'm thinking RTP Shredder cruise or Vegas getaway package. lol

Debbie! Haha you were googling like me, too. I knew it was and was disappointed the dates didn't match up. It's 100 Days from yesterday. lol

Gee Whiz Adam! Why go to New Jersey of all places!! (please forgive me you NJerseyians). Gotta have a big reason to do that, so am thinking they are going to do a TV show, or maybe a movie on you. (Oprah, Donald Trump, PlayBoy)

Something important that only can be done there (remember there are tons of movie companies in Spain...) This is something extra special for you to come all the way from Japan. Don´t you need a whole bunch of Shredder´s to be there to be background...we could sing some, dance some, give it a big GO Adam Waters!!! Just let us know and we´ll all be there.
(darn...running with bulls is much more fun than anything in NJ). :-)

It just has to be going to see Mr. BFFM himself. He is in New Jersey. You should see if you can try out the Quad Blaster that he has. Apparently it can make grown men cry. I can just see the meeting now though, it'll be like Stephen Colbert meeting Bill O'Reilly. Well, us North American's might get that reference...Wayne Gretzky meeting Gordie Howe? Hmm, what's a good international reference? Harry Potter meets Dumbledore?

Kristiina said...

As said before the reason is Tom, because he has the Fitness Renaissance in a beutiful place called Hoboken NJ.

We'll be expecting lots of pics :)

Lilla said...

Hey, I was right! You ARE coming to be my personal trainer! I was born and raised in New Joisey. My whole family lives there and I still own a condo in Montclair. What part of NJ will you be in? I may be visiting for the holidays. Joni, you and I should meet up and anyone else on the East Coast!

p.s. Are you on the Big I in your Hawaii picture?

p.s.s. Jersey gets a bum rap. There are some beautiful places there. Enjoy your stay!

p.s.s.s. Thumbs up for Hawaii Redemption 2.0!

A Redemption trip is a great idea! For me I need a Redemption Summer! This Summer is supposed to be my Redemption summer, but I don't know if I have enough time, we'll see!

I had no idea where you might be going lol.

OMG! I guess you'll be meeting Tom Venuto or Nick Nilson... Oh man if that is true I'm so envious. You gotta take pictures man!

Lilla,
I cannot believe you were there filming the whole TRIP! Since it was just a practice day getting ready for the BIG RACE, I didn´t think anyone would check it out.

Hey ADAM, don´t miss going to Lilla´s blog of November 21st! Not to be missed. You are a star!!

And LILLA, you are soo fabulous. My best Thanksgiving present!

Shredder Council Nails It!

I think I'm gonna have to make these "quizzes" a little tougher! The Shredder Council does not miss a clue!

Yes it's true! I'm going to New Jersey to train with Mr. BFFM himself, the one and only Tom Venuto!

How Insane Is This!

When I first purchased BFFM back in 2003 I was emotionally, spritually and physically destroyed.

Now, four "short years" later I am on my way to meet and train with the author of BFFM!

Unbelievable!

I'm Gonna Need Every One Of These 125 Days!

Tom has already told me what's in store for me when I arrive. Raiden guessed it, the "infamous Quad Blaster" which according to Tom, brings grown men to tears! Check out Tom's recent blog post on the "merciless" Quad Blaster on BodyBuildingSecrets.com

The truth is I'm gonna have to practice what I preach every single day of Mission 4 if I am to "stack up" in Tom's gym! This kind of pressure is totally insane...and exactly what I need in order to "shred that sixer" that has evaded me so far.

Ooohhh man, I get chills just thinking about this Day 500 training session with Tom!

East Coast Shredder Council Meet-Up!

Just to get more insane there is also the chance I could meet up with my fellow Shredders on the East Coast! What could be cooler than seeing the East Coast Shredder Council (who will also be in top shape too!) live in-person.

Man, this whole deal is totally "off the charts". It's gonna make me shred to the max and practice what I preach every single day for the next 121 days. I'm sooo looking forward to this!

You Gotta Check Out Lilla's Video!

One more thing...you gotta check out Lilla's ultra cool "Thanksgiving Day Shredder" video!

I watched Lilla's video while I was at work and totally "cracked up". All the Japanese staff were wondering, why is Adam laughing so hard!

Check out Lilla's video (and very cool blog) at http://shekhinahdivine.blogspot.com/

Thank You Shredders

What a cool group of Shredders we have! Through our combined efforts we have all witnessed a real-time manifestation of something that started as a "spur of the moment" idea. Thank you Shredders, it is an honor and a privilege to be on this journey with you.

I think we have only scratched the surface of how totally insane this Shredder Council will become. I can envisage a day in the not too distant future where we have our very own "Shredder Council Redemption Trip".

Maybe a Group Shred Redemption Mission!?

How cool would that be?!

Until tomorrow...

P.S. Tomorrow I'll finally post my "official" M4 plan, just gotta put the final touches on these graphics.

Day 378: Breaking News...Andrew Has Blown My Cover!

G'day,

Thank you Shredders for your guesses on where I'll be on Day 500. Andrew, Debbie, Suzette and Sammy were very very close by saying New York City (actually half-right!)

But even cooler there were so many great ideas for future holidays like the Bahamas (from Raiden), Hawaii (from Lilla), Florida (from Miriam), Disneyland! (from Christy) and even Spain (perhaps a cardio workout with Lynda, running with the bulls!)

Redemption 2.0 Coming Soon...

I have actually been seriously thinking about doing Redemption 2.0 to Hawaii (like I did with Phuket) because I have a lot "before photos" taken there from 2003, if you know what I mean!

Lilla, do you know where in Hawaii this is?

Shredder Redemption?

Actually Shredders, if you have "before" pictures from a previous vacation that you'd like to "redeem" then maybe you could do your own "Redemption Trip".

Like you can see below this was an extremely powerful motivator for me over Mission 2 that pushed me to the limit (in a good way!) and enabled me to take this "before and after" picture at the same spot in Phuket.

A Shredder Council Board Meeting!

And even cooler still was the suggestion by Suzette and Joni to hold the first Shredder Council Convention! That would be "off the Richter scale"! We could even hire a boardroom and have a Shredder Council board meeting!

Breaking News...

Just minutes before I planned to go "live" with this blog post Andrew nailed it! I will be heading straight for New Jersey (via San Francisco and New York!) once I hit the United States.

So, Why New Jersey?

As NJ will be freezing cold in March its safe to say that this ain't a beach vacation! So I guess the question now is, why New Jersey? Anyone care to take a stab...

Until tomorrow...

Eat Clean,
Shred Hard,
Think BIG

Cheers,
Adam Waters, NESTA-CPT

P.S. I got in a great cardio workout tonight and surprised myself by hitting the same numbers I hit in the last few weeks before the end of Mission 3. A rest really does wonders as long as it stays under 2 weeks I believe.

P.S.S.
Below are Day 378 pictures for November 21, 2007: Mission 4 - Day 3 of 125.

P.S.S.S. As you can also see I still have lighting issues with this new camera. Its really difficult to get consistent lighting for some reason, even though I am using the same settings.

Day 377: Guess Where I'll Be On Day 500!

G'day,

I had two victories today!

My First M4 Deadline Met!

1) I made my first deadline for M4: Judgment Day (Day 500) with over 1 hour to spare! That has to be a record for me as I have a habit of leaving important things until the last minute (like catching international flights!)

My First M4 "Victory" In The Gym

2) I grinded out another "victory" tonight in the gym by upping the tempo/intensity/increments of my circuit training workout compared to my session yesterday.

Believe it or not, I already feel more focused that at any time throughout the whole of M3. Your end goal for a specific physique transformation really does play a massive role in your motivation!

On the flipside, things are still a little crazy around here at the moment as I begin the task of organizing and creating M4 goals, accountability structure, stats and graphics. I promise they will be uploaded on Day 380 this Friday.

Which Foreign Country?

Before I sign off I'll put up a little factoid about which foreign country I will be on M4:Judgment Day. Here's a hint, the timezone for this country 14 hours behind "RTP Time". Can you guess where I'll be?

Until tomorrow...

Day 376: Mission 4 Starts Now - All Systems Go...Only Just!

G'day,

Oooohhhh man! What a day!

You won't believe how close a call I had today regarding plans for M4: Judgment Day!

N.B. I'll post official M4 Goals, Accountability, Stats and Graphics on Day 380.

M4 = Air Tix + Muscle + Abs + Insane Pressure

For now let's just say that M4 involves shredded muscle, washboard abs, air tickets, a foreign country and the most pressure I have ever put myself under.

Believe it or not, the first M4 deadline I have to meet is tomorrow (Day 377) at 2:00PM!

Right now, both my mind and body are toast, so I'm gonna have to sign off now because I must have my "muscle recovery" sleep.

Until tomorrow...

Eat Clean,
Shred Hard,
Think BIG

Cheers,
