Day 505: M4 Training Day II - Lower Body
G'day Shredders,
As you probably know the original M4 Training Day on March 22, 2008 - Day 500: M4 Training Day - was the "event" I originally promoted on this blog, in graphics and in videos.
This was to be THE workout to end all workouts...and it was!

A Slight Problem!
While this Day 500 workout was "off the Richter Scale" for intensity we were only able to capture snippets on tape as Tom and I were so focused on the workout!
However, on Day 505 we were able to capture the "essence" of this particularly brutal leg session as we had "hired" an awesome videographer (codename L) especially for this day!
M4 Training Day II Goes Live!
Therefore I have named Day 505 as M4 Training Day II because it really is the best documentation Tom and I have of all our 6 workouts over our 8-day training period.
125 Days Of Preparation
Before I show you these M4 Training Day II pictures I want to make very clear that these workouts with Tom Venuto were quite literally the culmination of 125 days of mental and physical training over the entirety of Mission 4.
M4 Shred: Real Time Accountability
I visualized this workout at a set time almost every day throughout Mission 4 which was documented daily in my M4 Shred: Real Time Accountability Log ( example seen below).
This is important because it demonstrates the importance of proper mental and physical training to prepare for an "event" and also why these pictures may seem a little "extreme".
I do not for a second claim to be on the same intensity level as fitness professionals like Tom Venuto. For Tom these sessions were just "another day at the office" for him.
The Truth About Mission 4
The truth is I am just a regular guy (English Teacher from Japan) who had an extraordinary opportunity to train with the best. This opportunity to train with Tom on his "home turf" was the driving force behind M4 as it was my stated goal to be able to "stack up in his gym" (see graphic above).
The First Training Pics I Have Ever Postsed
One final point I'll make is that these images are the first training pictures I have ever posted on this blog. The reason I have not posted any training pics before now is because I believe workouts are your "private time" and it is up to each of us as individuals to decide how we train and what we do in our sessions.
The Real Focus Of This Blog
The focus of this blog has always been accountability through a variety of "positive pressure methods" like daily posting, daily pictures, real time accountability logging and some motivational strategies like Redemption & Reveal during M2 (seen below).
Why I Am Putting These Pics Up Now
With that said I do get a ton of emails and requests for training pictures as some people seem to be curious if I actually do train with the intensity I discuss in my blog posts. In fact, I received a comment yesterday saying that it was "impossible" that I made this much progress in that time frame. I have a feeling that my lack of training pics contributes to this line of thinking.
From Osaka To New York!
Therefore, as I have now just completed 505 days of training that has taken me FROM my Day 1 depressed and overweight state in the grip 6 years of "self-sabotage solitary confinement" in my one bedroom apartment in Osaka TO the heights of training in New York with the Internet's No.1 Fat Loss Coach, Tom Venuto perhaps now is the time to post some training pics!
Ok here we go...

Thank You Tom Venuto
I also want to say an official massive thank you to Tom Venuto for giving me the green light on Mission 4 and ECSS 2008, for allowing me stay at his place, for allowing me to train with him one-on-one for 6 workouts, for treating me to two sensational nights out in New York City, for being an absolute champion host and for being an awesome mentor for me (and hundreds of thousands of fitness enthusiasts all over the world).
Thank you Tom, this is an experience I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
Sincerely,
Adam

Tom and Adam: Live From Times Square, NYC
Amidst all this M4 Training Day II "pain" and intensity there is another picture I will show you that was taken later on Day 505 at Times Square in New York City. Tom Venuto treated me to a once-in-a-lifetime experience, a show on Broadway and dinner in NYC!
My Toughest Quiz Yet!
This image is extremely symbolic and paradoxically related to M4 Training Day II. I'll post more pics from NYC (and maybe a video) tomorrow but first I will pose a question for my Fellow Shredders:
Question: How is this image above paradoxically related to the training pics?Just leave a comment to this post if you'd like to take a crack at the answers.
Question: What is the common thread that binds these images together?
Eat Clean,
Shred Hard,
Think BIG!

P.S. Below is Day 505: M4 Training Day II - March 27, 2007
P.S.S. On M4 Training Day II I wore my trusty black shorts that have been with me for over 8 years. They have been a first-hand witness to my shrinking (and expanding!) waistline over the whole time.
So, today is a special edition of the RTP Time Machine to pay tribute to my black shorts. I wonder how they'll fit 8 years from now!
