Day 419: 2008 - The Year Of The Shred!

G'day Shredders,

I trust you had an enjoyable New Year Celebration with friends and family. Let's make 2008 a year to go down in our history books (blogs!) as the Year Of The Shred!

I have a lot of ideas on how we can together increase (and maintain) the "positive pressure" via the daily picture/blog accountability factor to make this Year Of The Shred become a reality.

Daily Accountability Really Does Work!

Over the course of 2007 we have proven that this form of daily accountability really does work. My fellow Shredders have made awesome progress over the course of 2007 because you have practiced daily picture/blog accountability and importantly taken action on your physique transformation goals. I look forward to shredding along side you in 2008!

For me personally, 2007 has been a wild ride which I discussed in depth back on Day 365. I have experienced some incredible highs and a few lows.

When I look back now I know that my success (and failure) at any particular time over 2007 can be traced back to the daily accountability factor - just take a look at my Mission 2 after pictures compared to my Mission 3 before pictures for proof!

Will you join me in making 2008, the Year of The Shred? If you answered yes I have some very cool news coming your way in the next few days. Stay tuned...

Shredder Council Important Message:

Would you believe I made a big error in calculating the end date of our 84 Day - Weekly Accountability Phase!? 84 Days from October 26, 2007 (start of Group Shred 1) is actually Friday, January 18, 2008 (not January 8, 2008).

Therefore, for simplicity sake I will make 3 more Shredder Council Weekly Wraps on each Friday (4, 11 and 18 January) in the lead-up to Day 84. So, the good news is that you still have 18 days left to bring it home and cement your place permanently in the Shredder Council!

Shredder Council Requirements:

Since we entered the holiday period about 3 weeks ago there has been a drop-off in the number of Council members sending in weekly accountability pictures. I fully realize that this is a hectic time of year so I am willing to start afresh for 2008, so below are the new requirements if you'd like to continue your participation in the Council.

I also realize that many original Council Members have started new missions and outlined new goals. I fully respect your decision either way, however I think its necessary to finish what we started so we can end this 84 Day Phase on a high note!

*For all existing members of the Shredder Council please send me your final 3 "merged" weekly pictures by 2:00PM each of the final 3 Fridays if you'd like to cement your place in the Council.

*If you are unable to meet this requirement I will have to remove your profile from the Council permanently.

I apologize if this seems harsh but if the Shredder Council is to have any significance and credibility we must adhere to some minimum accountability standards. However, since we have now entered a new year with renewed vigor to make this the Year Of The Shred you have the opportunity right now to get off to a flying start for 2008! Also, there is a lot you can achieve with 18 days of focused shredding!

The cool thing is that of you do participate in the final 3 weeks of this Weekly Accountability Phase I do have some very exciting things planned that I will discuss with you privately AND you will have a permanent place in Shredder Council folklore (hint: there are much bigger things to come along with the prizes I promised).

Important: I want to tip my hat to the Shredder Council Members who inspired the start of the ShredderSphere due to a desire to return to daily accountability. Together we have created another twist on daily accountability with a massive follow-through rate!

M4 Shred
Day 8 of 84

Nutrition: For the third day in a row I got in every meal today and scored another "10". It feels great to kick off 2008 on the right foot!

Training: Today was a "forced rest day" due to January 1st being the No.1 public holiday in Japan. However, I did get in my push-up challenge quota as you can below. My rep counts after the first set (60 seconds rest) were very low though. Michael, how do you get such high numbers on your subsequent sets?!

*Important:

Feel free to use this plan as a template that you can follow. However, this plan is is based on my own personal experience over 3 physique transformation missions. In other words, what works for me may not work for you in the same way.

Success in this game requires research, individual design, real-world testing, monitoring results and making adjustments when necessary. This is your responsibility, no one else can do it for you. However, if you'd like to research further the exact programs I have used (over my first 3 Missions) and will use for M4 Shred you can do so at the links below.

M4 Shred Components: Click each link to learn more.

1) Fat Burning: 16 Principles of BFFM: nutrition, mindset and cardio.

2) Weight Training: Metabolic Surge: 36 Day Rapid Fat Loss System.

3) Six-Pack Training: Flatten Your Abs: 7-Level Training System.

Shredder Pact:

We will focus on the single daily actions that produce results.

We will "burn our bridges" and not look back.

We will never surrender.

Eat Clean,
Shred Hard,
Think BIG!

Cheers,
Adam Waters, NESTA-CPT

I knew you would be Suzette! You are right, Michael never stopped and just about all SS members almost never stopped, I just did not want to single anybody out because that is not cool. I guess this was my New Year's Resolution, so I had to put it out there!

Happy New Year, Adam! Loved your push-up video. Quick question, why un-merged? Can we just send it like we always did? I put it up in my blog anyway, so I have to do it, but if it takes more time for you if I send it the old way, then I'll send you it before I merge.

Quick fyi: I know you read it, but may have forgotten, Bec, is on vacation and without Internet access until Jan. 8th so she won't know about the new deadlines and stuff until she gets back. :)

Adam - I'm in as well.

The Year of the Shred! I like that. Can we add it to a Chinese restaurant menu?

Happy New Year Christy! Thanks for reminding me about Bec. Actually, you are 100% right about the pictures, the "merged way" is much better!

Cool Debbie, we'll definitely add that to the menu! Also, thank you for re-starting daily accountability, you are the reason why the ShredderSphere exists.

Adam, I'm sure it doesn't surprise you that I am in for the long haul. I had to calculate that 2 p.m. Friday your time is 9 p.m. my time on Thursday, so you will have my pics by that time each week.

As for the push ups, honestly, it is mostly will power. I have learned (see my blog today) that quitting just can't be an option for me. I see the goal (the reps they give in the training) and therefore I make it happen. I also think I probably have a stronger upper body than I give myself credit for and maybe I could have done more push ups during the test (ie. maybe I didn't push myself hard enough). Only time will tell!

*Guilty*!!! I was way off on my accountability during the last few weeks but I didn't stop my program, just took more days off than usual. As a result, I have maintained and not lost, but I am on board again and ready to go. And my husband is starting a program as well so that will help a lot for meal prep, temptation, etc. So, sorry for being so flaky for a bit - I'm back in action and totally on whatever you have for us now. I think 2pm Fri is noon on Thr for me so I'll send my pics from tomorrow morning to you. Thanks for keeping us on track!

PS Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Adam!

The Year Of The Shred... I like that a lot! I figure it this way... I'm 36 now, and I'll turn 37 this year. I've carried excess weight around for a good 15-20 years now - what better gift to give myself for Christmas 2008 than the opportunity to see what life is like -without- all that extra weight? A healthier, more positive, energetic life?

I'm positively excited about what 2008 has in store for me - and for all of the Shredders!

Hello Adam,
YES, I do want to continue being a Shredder and a part of your world and way of thinking. Without you and your blog mentally pushing me, I would have long ago been just where I have always been. A continual repeater. This year is my year. This Texan is going to shine! Count on me doing what it takes!
